2025 World Ocean Week in Xiamen: A Series of Events by Fujian Ocean Innovation Center

As a highly influential exchange and cooperation platform in China's maritime sector, the 20th World Ocean Week in Xiamen officially commenced with great fanfare in Xiamen, the "Egret Island," from November 6 to 12, 2025, under the theme "Forging New Drivers for Blue Development, Building a Maritime Community with a Shared Future." In conjunction with this grand event, the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center, a key scientific and technological innovation force in the ocean field, organized a series of high-caliber events from November 5 to 9. These activities spanned multiple domains including academic seminars, industrial investment, technology incubation, and cross-sectoral exchanges. The series aimed to build bridges for international, industry-research integrated cooperation, and to promote the deep integration of marine science and technology innovation with industrial innovation. Highlights from the Series of Events:1. Fujian-OI Ocean Forum 2025 On November 5, 2025, the "Fujian-OI Ocean Forum 2025," jointly organized by the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center and the State Key Laboratory of Marine Biogeochemistry (Xiamen University), was successfully held at the Xiamen International Conference Center Hotel. The forum brought together nearly 70 participants, including over 20 top marine scholars and industry leaders from nearly 10 countries worldwide, facilitating interdisciplinary and forward-thinking intellectual exchange.2. Fujian-OI Reception On November 6, 2025, the "Fujian-OI Reception", a core cross-sectoral exchange brand created by the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center, successfully attracted elites from government, industry, academia, research, and finance with its relaxed and open atmosphere. The event not only facilitated the flow of insights and information but also fostered the development of high-quality networks and potential collaboration opportunities. It effectively promoted the deep integration of innovative elements, laying a solid foundation for the prosperity of the blue economy ecosystem.3. China-EU Blue Forward Investment Forum 2025 (BFIF 2025) The China-EU Blue Forward Investment Forum was held in Xiamen from November 6 to 8, 2025. The opening ceremony was attended and addressed by Mayor Wu Bin of Xiamen, President Zhang Zongyi of Xiamen University, and Academician Dai Minhan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center. More than 200 representatives from government departments, research institutions, enterprises, and financial institutions participated. Co-hosted by the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center, the France-based global organization BioMarine, and the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau, this forum aimed to strengthen the deep connections between China and Europe in the marine industry and capital sectors. It sought to accelerate technology transfer and industrial incubation, working together to shape an inclusive, green, and innovative blue future.4. The First Symposium on Deep-Sea Biomanufacturing and Bioeconomy On November 7, 2025, the " The First Symposium on Deep-Sea Biomanufacturing and Bioeconomy," co-organized by the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center, the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau, the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and other institutions, was successfully convened at the Xiamen International Conference Center. Under the theme "Deep-Sea Genetic Treasure Trove: Decoding, Manufacturing, and a Sustainable Future," the symposium gathered renowned domestic and international academicians, scientists, government representatives, and industry leaders. Participants focused on the entire chain transformation path of deep-sea genetic resources from exploration to industrialization. 2025 International Conference on Planarization/CMP Technology

The 2025 International Conference on Planarization/CMP Technology (ICPT 2025) was held in Hong Kong, China, from October 29 to November 1, 2025. Hosted by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), the conference was co-organized by the Chinese Tribology Institute of CMES, Tsinghua University, Hwatsing Technology Co.,Ltd., and Anji Microelectronics Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., with strong support from the Hong Kong Tourism Board. With the theme of "Innovation-Driven Development of Planarization Technology, Empowering the Upgrade of High-End Manufacturing Industry", the conference gathered over 500 experts, scholars, and industry leaders from around the world. ICPS2025 - International Conference of Physiological Sciences

In the golden autumn of October, a grand academic event kicked off by the Qiantang River. The 2025 International Conference of Physiological Sciences (ICPS2025), alongside the 18th Chang Hsi-Chun Forum on Physiological Sciences for Young Scholars and the 16th Young Physiologist Symposium, opened at the Hangzhou International Expo Center on October 9 -12. Hosted by the Chinese Physiological Society and co-organized by Zhejiang University and Hangzhou Normal University, this conference once again gathered wisdom from the global physiology community following the restart of ICPS in Qingdao in 2024 after the pandemic, attracting experts, scholars, young researchers, and enterprise representatives from 13 countries and regions.China Star provided full PCO service for the Conference.

Annual Meeting of the Society for Molecular Biology & Evolution, 2025 (SMBE 2025)

From July 20 to 24, 2025, the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully hosted the Annual Meeting of the Society for Molecular Biology & Evolution 2025 (SMBE 2025) in Beijing, China.   The conference featured 5 keynote speeches, 358 invited, selected, and flash talks, along with 398 poster presentations. Attracting nearly 1,100 experts and scholars from 44 countries, with over 50% of attendees coming from overseas. The Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution (SMBE) is the most influential academic organization in the field of molecular evolution worldwide. Its mission is to foster connections and exchanges among researchers and practitioners in molecular evolution while advancing related studies. The SMBE Annual Meeting is the largest academic conference in the field of molecular biology and evolutionary biology globally. SMBE 2025 marked the first time the event was held in China, reflecting the rapid development of this research area in the country. A Beijing Evening with Ford Foundation

On December 4,2024, the Ford Foundation's Beijing office hosted the annual event “A Beijing Evening with Ford Foundation” at 600-year-old historical temple courtyard – ZhiZhuSi. More than 150 people attended in the event. At the beginning of the event, Mattie Benkink, regional director in China, delivered a warm welcome speech in Chinese.
